Team Amazing Amelia

Team Amazing Amelia is a group of like minded avid recreational cyclists who have joined together to raise funds and awareness in support children living with and beyond cancer.

We do this by volunteering, fundraising and participating in several children's cancer charity events, namely the Tour For Kids and the Ride for Karen. These are cycling-based events where we get to put our love for cycling to work helping others.

We ride for all of the children, some 10,000 of them in Canada alone who are on the road to cancer survivorship, in order to help improve their quality of life.

Since its inception Team Amazing Amelia has raised over $31,000 and helped make a positive impact in the lives of more than 30 children. This has been possible through the generosity of individuals and corporations like you.

Team Amazing Amelia was founded in 2007 by Paul and Lori O'Hara-Hoke in memory of 5-year old Amelia Canning, daughter of friends Gord and Wanda and her sister Sky, who passed away on January 17th 2007 after loosing her fight with cancer. Amelia was all about the living [of life] and had an indomitable spirit.Through her spirit and determination to overcome cancer Amelia became known to family and friends as "Amazing Amelia" hence the team's name. We strive to represent this spirit in everthing we do.

The fundraisers we participate in are organized by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation registered charity #8282 52346 RR0001. Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation is a "True" charity organization that provides awareness and funds for 3 amazing Kids Cancer Camps. What makes it a "True" charity organization is that 100 % (yes we meant 100%) of your donations go to the camps! Event costs are covered by the riders (out of their own pockets) as well as corporate sponsors who whole-heartedly believe in supporting their communities. Staffed by Health Care professionals the camps provide an array of services such as on-site child specific oncology care. And just as important they also provide a supportive environment where kids living with and beyond cancer can just be kids.
